Hello! I'm trying to configure DCS on openSUSE 10.3 for a mixed Linux/MacOS environment using XML file authentication. There is few information available about DCS / Lightning interoperability. It seems Lightning does not processing scheduling requests in the scheduling inbox on the server, and does not send invitations through DCS either. Was someone sucessful in getting that working, or is that not yet supported in Lighning? I got the iMIP scheduling in DCS only partially working: Known users are asked internally (for iCal, see above), and external users get an invitation email. Problems arise when DCS tries interpreting and injecting email replies. I use the builtin mail templates and have enabled plus-addressing on the mail server. I've added an entry to the XML file for the com.apple.calendarserver and the respective GUID to the »principals with "DAV:all" access«. Hello List, please apologize for questions that might have been answered already. I read thru the list until August 2008 and did not find answers to my questions below. Upfront some information on what I try to archive and what we have... More than three years ago we went away from Exchange into a more multi-OS solution. We have different sort of OS - namely OSX (10.5.x), Debian (Sidux), Windows (XP). Our internal Calendarserver is right now a DavICal (formerly RSCDS) setup running on a Debian server. As one of the Mac users I was always looking into the progress of Calendarserver. We were now asked by some small companies and non-profit organization to provide Email and Calenderservice. Thats when I realized that meanwhile Debian has the Calendarserver Package. So I give it a try and installed it. Playing a bit arround I found it working. Right now, I use the XML-based accounts structure because the nss-ldap based implementation had too many issues related to our naming structure. Creating the accounts.xml automagically from the ldap directory for our users is a pretty easy task (except the Password ;) ) - so I gave that solution the first try. Here now my questions: 1. Multidomain Calserver Based on the service we were asked for, we setup the Email service for an multi-domain scenario. Start to think how the Calendarserver might work with it, started the first questions. As far as I understand from the mailing list and some other internet sources, the caldavd.plist defines the location of the calendar files in the "DocumentRoot" Tag. Because I wanted to seperate the principals based on their domain to prevent security side effects I have had no idea at the first sight. So I thought about to setup different servers listening on different ports and use an apache reverse proxy to point to the propper service. Q: Is this a feasible plan or does anybody here has a better solution? 2. Permissions I have read that giving read-permissions on user/group based calendars is a task that the client software should provide. We use currently Lightning (still 0.9 because of Thunderbird 2) and I have no chance to provide any permissions using this client. Q: Is there any command-line based tool that I can use? - If so, I would create an admin/user Interface to provide the permissions dialogue. 3. Authentication As of now, I used the Digest Authentication (not sure if Lightning provides Kerberos Authentication). Every hour I got requested to provide a new Login via Lightning. As far as I have read thru the list, I knew that Lightning might not be the best solution because of still open bugs in the CalDav implementation. However the error I can see in the error log says that the "nonce value is invalid". Searching through google I have not found a solution yet. Unfortunately I got an error that blocks me from creating that Calendar in iCal. The Error Message "Bei der Anfrage ist ein unerwarteter Fehler aufgetreten (Domain „CalDAV No Calendar Home Error“/Fehler 1)." (sorry for the German message) - keeps me away from testing with iCal. I checked in the access log and the error log and cannot see any difference in the path to the Lightnng URL. Q: Can somebody give me a hint what this error mean? Sorry for the long list of questions. I would really like to use this package if I could see a clear path to solve my current issues/challenges... Thanks for any advice or hint that helps me to solve those questions... Jochen

Can calendar server import file?

I have installed Darwin calendar server already. Now I want to import my ics files to my server but I can't find the way to do that. I try to copy my files to my user's directory but it's not work. But it seems the server can't find it so when I use iCal connect to my server it can't find my files. Does someone know any way to import files to the server? Tell me please. Thank you.

how do you use the "location" textfield in the "new event" window ? I mean, do you think it is normal tu use email and to put it in "attendees" textfield to use it ? it would be more "normal" to use a location in the location textfield, and use a name, not an email (I never send email to a room...)

CalDAVClientLibrary Kerberos authentication

Hi caldavd users, I was looking for a way to manage ACLs on individual calendars and came across CalDAVClientLibrary. I assume that's the recommended way of managing ACLs, is that correct? However, it seems CalDAVClientLibrary does not support Kerberos authentication. Our caldavd installation runs on Debian Lenny, using the Debian package. It is configured to use Kerberos for authentication, which works well with all calendar clients. hello, how do you use "location" in ical when you use account.xml configuration file ? when entering a known location (present in the account.xml file as a "location" type) it doens't recognize it. I got a "!" or a "?". what is the problem ? do I use it the bad way ? do you enter the name ? the GUID ? the mail ?(there sould't be any email adress...) I did tried everything, nothing worked. jean

Sending iMIP messages with no icon-pngs fails, possible fix

I think I found a small bug in twistedcaldav/mail.py When providing no icons, 1114 iconPath = self.getIconPath(details, canceled, language=language) will set iconPath to "None" and 1280 if os.path.exists(iconPath) and htmlTemplate.find("cid:% (iconName)s") != -1: will fail with such an error message: 2009-04-17 14:23:27+0200 [-] [mailgateway] exceptions.TypeError: coercing to Unicode: need string or buffer, NoneType found I catched that case by extending the test: 1280 if iconPath != None and os.path.exists(iconPath) and htmlTemplate.find("cid:%(iconName)s") != -1: Regards, Markus

Wrong error reporting?

Hi, I'm currently patching ical4j-connector to add free/busy support, and after a couple of hours of trying to find out why I was getting : 2009-04-13 18:49:55-0400 [-] [caldav-8009] [PooledMemCacheProtocol,client] [twistedcaldav.scheduling.caldav#error] Could not determine free busy information: urn:uuid:admin In Calendar Server log, and the answer I got from Calendar Server : <request-status>3.8;Not authorized</request-status> The problem was that my DTSTART and DTEND properties didn't have the Z at the end, e.g. I had : DTSTART:20090413T184108 when it should be : DTSTART:20090413T184108Z I was only able to find that it was the problem after I sniffed the traffic between iCal and CalendarServer and to compare the POST with my own call. I just want to know if it's normal that I get a "3.8;Not authorized" status for such an error?

ACL from iCal on Leopard?

Hi, I want to "reopen" a thread, started in September 2007 by a user [1] so I used the same subject. Like Leonard, I want to grant access to one of my caldav calendars to another caldav user. And like Leonard I fail with the same error message. Also my acounts.xml ist setup the same way as Leonards [2]. Unfortunately at that time in 2007 the issue does not seem to have been solved. So I am stuck here somehow. Any hints on how to fix this?
