Hello-- Looking through the archives and all over, the best thing I could find for help configuring the DCS is this: http://www.macworld.com/article/132736/caldavserver.html?loomia_ow=t0:s0:a3… It's a bit dated and has nothing about the CardDAV server now included with the CalDAV server. Is there anything out there that talks about how to configure these pieces? I need the CalDAV server's more advanced settings than discussed in the above article, like how to setup sending invites to others not on this server. Also, I would like to start on the CardDAV but see nothing out about that one and how to get started with it. I assumed some similarities between the configuration for it and the CalDAV, but haven't been able to initiate and connect to it yet. Any links to manuals, installation guides, etc. would be most appreciated! Thanks! Corey

Hi all, http://www.rho.cc/index.php/calendar-and-contact-server/59-calendar-setup/1… Simple step by step guide for installing the latest builds of darwin calendar and contact server on centos Linux. This guide which is based on my version 2 guide takes you all the way from fetching the code to compiling to running both calendar and contact server. I'm also writing a guide to the version 3 configuration files which are different from the version 2 ones.. I'll let you know when thats ready. Cheers, ---Guy

Access Permission

mime.types in 2.4

I'm just about to try an install of 2.4 - today or tomorrow. There's one little thing I'd like to be added to the configuration file caldavd.plist, and that's a key/value for the location of the mime.types file. (Forgive me if there is one already that I've overlooked.) For the minute, it seems that I have to edit the twistedcaldav/__init__.py source line which says in the original: File.contentTypes = loadMimeTypes(("/etc/apache2/mime.types", "/etc/httpd/mime.types",)) I'll put in a formal RFE if that's required.

Using both calendar and contacts server

Hello, I'm trying to get calendar server and contact server running on the same host. It seems to work fine when I start both, but one problem is that both processes launch memcached and of course the second one can't connect to the listening socket. Missing Calendar Data

Hello, I just updated to Version 2.4 from Version ??. I have several backups of my old directories but I don't know which data i have to move to my new installation. Allready done: * caldavd-dev.plist * accounts.xml * /data * /twistedcaldav/test/data My config says:  <key>DataRoot</key> <string>data/</string>  <key>DocumentRoot</key> <string>twistedcaldav/test/data/</string> I can login with iCal but the accounts are empty (no calendars). Privilegs are also fine. Suggestions? regards Michael

openVZ Darwin Calendar Server 3.0 (DCS) Released!

Hello everyone, Going one step further than providing a step-by-step install of DCS... I've now built a openVZ template which is ready to run DSC. http://forum.proxmox.com/threads/3548-openVZ-Darwin-Calendar-Server-(DCS)-R…! I've built this for proxmox but really it should work for anything capable of running openVZ templates. The template is centos based and will auto start the calendar and contact servers when booted, with a single default "admin" account to play with. Cheers, ---Guy

Is an XMPP server required to get invites?

My install of the latest revision (5304) of CalendarServer works pretty well, except for the fact that I cannot RECEIVE any invitations in iCal. Does this require having an XMPP server, and configuring the caldavd.plist accordingly? Similarly, replies to invitations from my end are not received - and if I drag and drop a reply into iCal, I have seen some invitations (maybe all) are noted as "cancelled" by calendarserver, even though it has not actually been cancelled. Any ideas? -- Conrad Wasmer

Hideki - My set up works to SEND invitations through iCal only. I CANNOT RECEIVE invites through iCal - the only thing I can do is check my mail, then drag and drop calendar invites onto iCal - they never show up in iCal. I am not sure if that's because of my email set up (which is a little weird) or not, but I can't get that to work and would take any advice on that anyone can offer - and for that I am copying the calserver user list. The accounts.xml file should be in conf/auth. If it is moved, you need to be sure that the location set for it in your plist file is updated - the plist file tells calendarserver the path and file name. As I recall, mine was originally accounts-test.xml, but I nixed the "test" part of that and had to update the name in the plist. Here's the advice I got to finally get it up and running - in your accounts.xml file you have to add a user named com.apple.calendarserver and assign it a password. like so (you can generate your own GUID using the unix command [in terminal] uuidgen - just type it in and it generates a guid for you, then cut and paste it for the new user]): <user> <uid>com.apple.calendarserver</uid> <guid>AEB68DD7-D2B8-4D4D-A574-2A4533DF36A4</guid> <password>SUPERSECRETPASSWORD</password> <name>Calendar Server iMIP injection</name> <disable-calendar /> </user> And in your plist file, under AdminPrincipals you have to have the GUID listed for that new user, like the first one is below: > <key>AdminPrincipals</key> > <array> > <string>/principals/__uids__/AEB68DD7-D2B8-4D4D-A574-2A4533DF36A4/</string> > <string>/principals/__uids__/ABE88blah-blah-blah-blah-asdfasdfasdf/</string> > </array> Also in the plist file, add the com.apple.calendarserver password as a field in the iMIP protocols settings:  <key>iMIP</key> <dict> <key>Enabled</key> <true/> <key>MailGatewayServer</key> <string>localhost</string> <key>MailGatewayPort</key> <integer>62310</integer> <key>Password</key> <string>SUPERSECRETPASSWORD</string> If memory serves, that got me up and running for sending invites, but I still cannot RECEIVE invites through iCal or any other client. Calendar Server and iPhone/iPod Touch?

Does the statement on page http://trac.calendarserver.org/wiki/iPhone that "The iPhone [and iPod Touch?] cannot directly access calendars on the Calendar Server." refer to 2.3? Or an earlier version? Or versions 2.* only and not the forthcoming 3.* versions? Perhaps this wiki entry needs to be updated? I'll try my 2.3 install with an iPod Touch sometime. I find only one report about the iPhone etc in the mailing list archives: it is from June 2009 and says that the iPhone works with a then "fairly recent version" of Calendar Server.
