Hello-- Looking through the archives and all over, the best thing I could find for help configuring the DCS is this: http://www.macworld.com/article/132736/caldavserver.html?loomia_ow=t0:s0:a3… It's a bit dated and has nothing about the CardDAV server now included with the CalDAV server. Is there anything out there that talks about how to configure these pieces? I need the CalDAV server's more advanced settings than discussed in the above article, like how to setup sending invites to others not on this server. Also, I would like to start on the CardDAV but see nothing out about that one and how to get started with it. I assumed some similarities between the configuration for it and the CalDAV, but haven't been able to initiate and connect to it yet. Any links to manuals, installation guides, etc. would be most appreciated! Thanks! Corey

Hi all, http://www.rho.cc/index.php/calendar-and-contact-server/59-calendar-setup/1… Simple step by step guide for installing the latest builds of darwin calendar and contact server on centos Linux. This guide which is based on my version 2 guide takes you all the way from fetching the code to compiling to running both calendar and contact server. I'm also writing a guide to the version 3 configuration files which are different from the version 2 ones.. I'll let you know when thats ready. Cheers, ---Guy

Alternate python location for centos 5

I installed the Darwin calendar server 2 as per Guy's instructions on "http://www.rho.cc/index.php/calendar-and-contact-server/59-calendar-setup/4…" (Thanks for that by the way, if you read this) Its a CentOS 5.4 machine. And having python 2.5 installed brakes all kinds of things other then just yum. Debian configuration

Can anyone help me with Debian configuration advice, and using iCal and iPhone clients? I'm a bit confused as regards to the right setup for users, etc. I have a very simple configuration in mind as regards authentication. It would be find if all users were able to edit all calendars. Dependencies list for CalendarServer 2.4

I gathered what will hopefully be a comprehensive list of software dependencies from the run script in the root directory, can members of the list confirm this is everything that is needed to run CalendarServer? I am trying to document everything that is needed to make it easier on packagers can put CS in their respective repositories for ease of installation by users. Some of the packages the run script pulls down are the in an svn repo, while others are version-ed releases. Perhaps the list can help me identify since released versions of the svn-ed software so the list of deficiencies does not point at svn repositories, but a specific download-able version. For instance, PyFlakes has a stable release of 0.4. Perhaps that would be a better listing as a dependency? Quering a calendar homeset with REPORT

Hi, I noticed that CalendarServer 1.2 supported that you could REPORT a home-set and then CalendarServer would aggregate results for all calendar-collections. I'm fully aware that this is not standard, but never-the-less it was a nice optimation compared to iterating over all calendar-collections. However, in CalendarServer 2.4 this seems not to work. I've not yet gotten to the bottom of why it's "broken" now, but maybe some one could enlighten me whether this "feature" was intented in 1.2 or deprecated on purpose in 2.4 regards, Peter

Strange log rotation behaviour with 2.4

I have 2.4 running, with caldav.plist containing this as the start of the log file configuration: >  > >  > <key>AccessLogFile</key> > <string>/var/log/caldavd/access.log</string> > <key>RotateAccessLog</key> > <true/> > >  > <key>ErrorLogFile</key> > <string>/var/log/caldavd/error.log</string> > <key>RotateErrorLog</key> > <true/> > >  > <key>DefaultLogLevel</key> > <string>debug</string>  That's to say, I expect both the access.log and error.log files to be rotated so that none grow larger than a given size - here, apparently, 1,000,000 bytes by default - which is fine - and so that only the last N rotates of a given log file are kept. Experimenting with 2.4 on Linux

I've been experimenting with Calendar Server 2.4 on (Slackware) Linux (13.0), and would like to compare notes. I'm using only SSL and have provided a self-signed certificate - I'd need to stump up some money for something better. I'm using accounts.xml just to experiment with. Evolution 2.62.2 seems fine as "user01" (or anyone else), but with Sunbird 1.0b1 (though Sunbird is obsolescent) and also in Thunderbird 3.0.4 with Lightning 1.0b1, I've fallen foul of Bug 523555 - "Cannot add CalDAV calendar via HTTPS if server has invalid/self-signed certificate" - https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=523555 - fixed in development code on the 27th March, apparently. I had iCal 4.0.2 working fine on Mac OS X 10.6 without SSL with Calendar Server 2.3, but now with 2.4 when I try: iCal -> Preferences -> Accounts and click "+", and following http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3861 for rough guidance, I see: Page "Add an account" - - - - - - - - - - - Account type: CalDAV User name: user01 Password: user01 Server address: https://calendar.mydomain.tld:8443/calendars/users/user01 Create. Verifying ... "No CalDAV server was found at the specified address." Continue. Page "Calendar Server Options" - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Account Template: iCal Server User name: user01 Password: user01 Server address: https://calendar.cs.york.ac.uk Server path: /calendars/users/user01/ Port: 8443 Use SSL: yes Create. "The account information was not found. Async operation timed out". Nothing visible in calendar server error log while this is going on, debug level = "info". Next step is Kerberos, once I find a fix or a work-around for the above problems. John A. Murdie

I'd successfully run Calendar Server 2.3 on an initial test machine which had an install directory writeable by user 'calendar' - in whose name the caldavd process was run. When I made an install of 2.4 on a beta test machine for which the install directory was not writeable by calendar, I saw the message: exceptions.IOError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '.../twisted/plugins/dropin.cache.new' (I've elided the actual directory path, as it is not relevant.) The problem is apparently one known in Twisted 8.2.0, which is the basis of the version provided for use with 2.4. See http://twistedmatrix.com/documents/current/core/howto/plugin.html for the background, but I think that the problem is long since fixed in newer versions of Twisted. I worked around the problem by running 2.4 on the initial test system where the install filesystem was writeable before returning to the beta test install. This problem will presumably go away when Calendar Server comes with an up-to-date version of Twisted? John A. Murdie

Hello Everybody, After reading the previous thread on CentOS and consulting these instructions: http://www.rho.cc/index.php/linux2/48-misc/48-installing-darwin-calendar-se… ...I'm getting *nothing*, no output, when I do the 'run' command. No combination of parameters gives me any output. However, I did deviate from the instructions at Rho in this manner: 1. Used Python 2.6.5 instead of 2.5. Python 2.6 includes SQLite (it's no longer a separate download/install)... and the SSL in Python 2.5 does *not* handle certificates properly. The SSL in Python 2.6 is based on OpenSSL which does handle certificates properly. 2. Installed Python under /opt/Python-2.6.5. Replacing the system Python with 2.5 (or 2.6) is fraught with danger and should never be done on a production system. To compensate for this, I edited the shell script named 'python' and corrected the full path for the Python I want to use. 3. Checked-out SVN trunk instead of 4538. Has anyone done analysis to see what's different (and broken) between 4538 and trunk? If I have some time I'll dig into the 'run' script to see if I can get it going, and at least get to the point where I get something running. I'd like to be able to fix whatever's wrong in trunk instead of depending on an older version. Cheers, -JK
