Has anyone been able to get v3.1 release working on linux? I installed a brand new fresh Centos 6.0 virtual machine, and managed to get past the postgres issue, the server appears to start up, however I get a connection refused when I try and access the ical http://username:pass@server/users/username/calendar (or whatever the URL is). interestingly enough, I can launch the server using ./run, but when I try and run the server through caldavd -T /path/to/twistd -f /path/to/config/file I get problems. There seems to be a few versions of twistd installed, using one gives a 'caldav not found' error, and the other gives a dependancy issue. It would be awesome to have a working VM to share. 3.1 release and postgresql

As my old server died, I'm in the process of installing a new dcs server. I've been able to get the dcs server installed, and started, however it dies trying to make a postmaster connection (I don't have the specifics as I'm away from my pc). Does dcs need postgresql? I have a local postgresql server that I've started in the same box, but no change. Lastly has anyone restored a calendar account to a new server? My Mac iCal client has all my appointments, I don't know how I can push these all to the new server. Sent from my mobile device.

Is it possible to backup a server based shared calendar(CalDav) to iCloud. the calendar is shared by a small group of users.

Outlook iCloud plugin as a generic CalDAV client

The iCloud for Windows setup installs a plugin into Outlook that seems to function as a CalDAV and CardDAV client to the iCloud servers. Can I use the Outlook iCloud plugin to connect to a private Calendar Server rather than to the iCloud CalDAV Server? Thanks

best practices for sharing calendars

Hi, I am trying to understand the concept of calendar sharing and I will appreciate if someone clarify this to me. 1) My main purpose is to use calendarserver as a remote calendar server that users can use remote calendar of their own via remotely. That can be done easily of course. 2) My second purpose is to create a shared calendar. For my second aim what is the best practice? I am trying to understand the calendar sharing concept. How do you do that? a)Using an account and giving out its user name and password to everybody involved? such as: <user> <uid>shared</uid> <password>shared</password> <name>shared calendar</name> </user> b) Or creating a group and adding all users to that shared group so everybody can see each others calendar that is at the same group? I have found a tutorial http://www.ronregev.com/misc/pim_server_tutorial/and actually i have applied to concept here but i can't seem to create a shared calendar especially usage of guid part as stated in that document: *If everything worked so far, then we are almost set. Almost, but not quite. The problem is that the CalDAV server identifies the calendar groups (meaning, the users) by assigning them unique, long guid values. We have to locate the newly-created guid value for our first user, and add it to the file accounts-text.xml, or the server will not know which calendar belongs to that user the next time we run it. This is why we must add one user at a time to iCal - so that we can identify the proper guid for this user.* What is the relation of uid and guid? Is it used for sharing calendar if not what is the aim of guid here? What is the aim of <user></user> and <group></group> it is just like on standart unix permissions? c) My last question is that say there is a shared calendar http://<server>/calendars/users/shared/calendar and i see that a client can make an event public or private. What is the aim of making an event public or private? It is used for calendar sharing in a grouped environment Regards.

webcal update?

Hi, Is it possible to update calendar using webcal:// . I think webcal is just a way to sync it from a caldav:// on a certain interval? I want to update webcal:// and want this to be reflected to caldav:// ( I don't want to install openconnector or something like that) Regards.
