How to backup database/server

Dear All, New to Darwin Calendar Server. Would like to know how other users go about backing up their respective databases/servers? Would REALLY appreciate any insight into the matter, as I can't seem to get pg_dump to work. Thank you! Where are the calendars located?

Hi, This is my first post so apologies for any noob errors! I've managed to do a successful install of the trunk build and have CalDAV and CardDAV running using the ./run script. What I'm struggling with is getting things going using a script at boot. I'm trying something like this: /local/path/to/caldavd -X -f /local/path/to/caldavd.plist -T /local/path/to/Twisted/twistd -P caldav -t Combined (I am going to put each argument in a .plist file in the LaunchDaemons folder so that it runs at boot but I want to get it running from the command line first) "/local/path/to" is my own local install path, nothing fancy, just a folder inside my users home folder. The error I'm getting is a whole list of what twisted understands as arguments along with a final "unknown command: caldav". When I use the run script, it just works, but not when I try to fire up the server from the command line. I know I'm missing something obvious, just not sure what. The caldavd.plist file is correct as far as I can tell. I do have one other question though. When I start the server using the run script, one of the messages I get is "Using system version of twistd". Where would I find this system version and if I used the path to that in both the caldavd.plist file and the command line, would things "just work"? Correct unscheduling of locations

Hi, I'm using the current trunk version and ICal as CalDav Client. It works fine with the following exception: When you have at least 2 locations (e.g. Room A and B) and you create an event (meeting A) in ICal, assign one room (Room A) to this event and then change the room assignment (to Room B) (without delete and create new), the first room (Room A) stays assigned (and gets not automatically unassigned) Now if I want to assign a new event on the same time slot as the previous event (event A) but in the other room (Room A), which should be free, it is not possible to book the room because it is still assigned owing to this bug. (For better visualization use the availability window in ICal) This is my problem. I hope you understood my explanation. Can anyone help me with this? Maybe at least anyone can tell me how the "reset" the assignments of the locations. regards Markus

Attempting to build DCS on Mac OSX Leopard Client. Keep getting the following error after I ./run -s Downloading PostgreSQL... % Total % Received % Xferd Average Speed Time Time Time Current Dload Upload Total Spent Left Speed 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 --:--:-- 0:00:02 --:--:-- 0 curl: (9) Server denied you to change to the given directory The FTP link to the postgresql v 9.0.1 appears to be gone from the site. Server side invitation sending

Hi, I have a current snapshot of DCS 3.0 running on my Linux server. iCal 4 works great as a client. I can create events and then DCS sends a mail to external participants. Now I wanted to use Lightning on another computer with that account. I am using 1.0b3pre. Accessing events and todos works great. But I expected the server to handle the invitations now. Creating an event an invitation is send by Thunderbird and not by the server. How does DCS determine when to send mails and when not? Has anybody Lightning integrated? regards Felix btw. Does iCal have the possibility to send client side invitations? Using Lightning i can influence this by DAV: 1, 2, 3, access-control, calendar-access, calendar-schedule removing calendar-auto-schedule to the HTTP header.

Externally originated event invitation

Running release-2.4, I'm wondering if/how externally originated event invitations are supposed to work. I'm testing by using iCal on an external machine (i.e. not connected to DCS) and sending an invite to test.user(a)example.com, who has an DCS connected account as below: accounts.xml: <user> <uid>test.user</uid> <guid>49076822-65C0-45E6-A561-449833392596</guid> <name>Test User</name> <cuaddr>mailto:test.user@example.com</cuaddr> <password>test</password> </user> I can bring the event into the test.user's DCS calendar, however attempts to accept/decline yield no results. I have caldavd.plist setup and iMIP replies and new invitations originated from DCS work as expected. However, new invitations originated from outside of DCS to a I can't get to work. Are you running trunk? To use a known working configuration, cp conf/caldavd-dev.plist conf/caldavd-test.plist, then start the server. In this configuration, the service is listening (on localhost) on all the required ports. If you use a browser to hit http://localhost:8800, you should see a top-level listing similar to: Name Size Last Modified MIME Type .calendarserver_version 1 2010-Sep-22 14:03 text/plain .well-known/ ? (collection) addressbooks/ ? (collection) admin ? (collection) calendars/ ? (collection) directory/ ? (collection, addressbook, directory) principals/ ? (collection) timezones ? text/xml (timezones) webcal ? (collection) You can validate CardDAV by running the 'testserver' script included with CalendarServer. This script runs tests provided by CalDAVTester, which should be a sibling directory to CalendarServer. Questions after Working Ubuntu 10.04 Trunk Install...

I have a few questions after a late night custom build/install session that's working on an Ubuntu 10.04 LTS virtual host- 1) Can I use flatfiles instead of sqlite? (like OS X... this all feels a bit like ldap cn=config when flatfiles are sooo much easier) 2) Am I right in assuming I don't need carddavd as it's included in caldavd and how do I enable it in the configs? 3) How can I get path discovery working for addressbook without having to use the http://www.ronregev.com/misc/pim_server_tutorial/ hack of finding the GUID and editing the plist file for addressbook? 4) How can I add group calendars?
