backing up calendar server
Hello folks, I am setting up a calendar server on debian for an org with about 40 users. Is there any documentation on how to do backups and restores of the calendar server's data. I can easily enough make copies of /var/spool/caldavd, but I'm wondering if there is more to it than that to do a proper restore. thanks, Scott

What version of Calendar Server are you setting up? -glyph

In that case, yes, just make copies of that directory. Of course, you have to make sure that extended attributes are copied correctly, and that is left as an exercise for the reader. If you're setting up a new calendar server though, you really shouldn't be using a version that's that old. I realize Debian has been slow to catch up with recent versions but there are new packages in the pipeline now. (Hopefully the Debian maintainer will pipe up.) -glyph On Aug 25, 2012, at 8:37 PM, Scott Trevithick <scott@trevithick.ca> wrote:

What version would you recommend, Glyph? Scott On 12-08-26 04:44 PM, Glyph wrote:

If you're going to deploy on Debian, there are packages for 3.2: http://packages.qa.debian.org/c/calendarserver.html -g On Aug 26, 2012, at 6:54 PM, Scott Trevithick <scott@trevithick.ca> wrote:

Feel free to go ahead and make such a package if you like. The only reason not to package it up is if you're looking for a version you can just use and don't want to do a bunch of packaging work, but for many that is quite a compelling reason ;-). -glyph
