Log Message: ----------- Add distfile for octave.
Added Paths: ----------- distfiles/octave/ distfiles/octave/octave-2.9.15.tar.bz2 Why? Just to have an http mirror? Because it's still on the octave ftp server, and they've got releases back to 2.9.0, so I don't think they're going to remove it any time soon.
Some corporations that I know of do not allow any outgoing FTP, so having an HTTP mirror available is good.
Right. I was just asking if having an http mirror was the only reason.
I'm just very wary of having distfiles in our repository at all. They take up so phenomenally more more space than any code we would ever write, and they can "never" be removed from the repository, so I think we should all think at least 5 times before adding distfiles to the repository.
We should have another mechanism then for uploading them and storing them on the server. Blair -- Blair Zajac, Ph.D. CTO, OrcaWare Technologies <blair@orcaware.com> Subversion training, consulting and support http://www.orcaware.com/svn/
