the bug is that i wasnt trying to install tetex, i was trying to install gnuplot
But gnuplot needs an installed version of tetex to work properly. So macports automatically downloads tetex and all other necessary packages for you and installs them. When all requirements are met then gnuplot will be downloaded and installed. To see the dependencies for a port use this command: port info <portnamehere> Hope this helps, Simon - -- + privacy is necessary + using http://gnupg.org + public key id: 0x6115F804EFB33229 -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.7 (Darwin) iD8DBQFGxzj9YRX4BO+zMikRCmaQAJwOSaea/OITuqW0stsxCXz7zg02YwCg4Pgw NnFPW0Of+Kw6LopFCxZD6MM= =h41E -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
