Currently we have MacPorts-1.5.0-10.3.dmg MacPorts-1.5.0-10.4.dmg MacPorts-1.5.0-10.5.dmg These names are rather similar and people have in the past not realized that these are for different OS versions. Maybe we could use the kitty name starting with our next release? MacPorts-1.6.0-Panther.dmg MacPorts-1.6.0-Tiger.dmg MacPorts-1.6.0-Leopard.dmg That would make it easier to distinguish between the different images. Note that Apple has been using this kind of naming for some time already in its security updates, and now also in the QuickTime 7.3 disk images.

Hi, I like the idea, but maybe we should add the version after the name. I can sometimes not remember which name stands for which version. MacPorts-1.6.0-Panther-10.3.dmg MacPorts-1.6.0-Tiger-10.4.dmg MacPorts-1.6.0-Leopard-10.5.dmg What do you think, Simon -- + privacy is necessary + using http://gnupg.org + public key id: 0x6115F804EFB33229

Hi,

MacPorts-1.6.0-Panther-10.3.dmg MacPorts-1.6.0-Tiger-10.4.dmg MacPorts-1.6.0-Leopard-10.5.dmg
What do you think,
I don't have any particular objection to that. :)

MacPorts-1.6.0-Panther-10.3.dmg MacPorts-1.6.0-Tiger-10.4.dmg MacPorts-1.6.0-Leopard-10.5.dmg
I think that this proposed naming scheme provides the most clarity. Frank

I like the idea, but I would suggest:
MacPorts-1.6.0-10.3-Panther.dmg MacPorts-1.6.0-10.4-Tiger.dmg MacPorts-1.6.0-10.5-Leopard.dmg
Though visually less clear, this would allow easier sorting, and match how Apple talks about the releases. -- Ernie P.

I'll go by this advice and use Ernie's naming suggestion. Regards,... -jmpp
