So some parts of the original patch are probably still needed. Resolved these outstanding issues in r44340, and marking the ticket as closed. Note that to avoid duplication of code in this fix, I reimplemented "port deps" as an alias for "port info" with the proper flags to show only dependency information. This has naturally changed the exact text format produced by "port deps". This isn't enough... A configure argument (or a patch or a reinplace or something) also needs to be added to cause the port to use the relevant library. If matplotlib automatically uses the relevant library if present, then that is a problem, because we do not want the port to link with libraries it hasn't declared dependencies on, so any such automatic library detection needs to be disabled by default, and then can be re-enabled in the appropriate variants. py25-matplotlib already seems to have a fix for this issue for the +gtk2, +tkinter and +wxpython variants so these fixes can be adopted in the py- matplotlib port (and the revision should then be increased). While I had no problems with rrdtool 1.2.27, RRDs::update from version 1.3.4 (with the patches for bugs #16165 and #16505) no longer updates the timestamp of the database when doing an update.
