/usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib is universal on Tiger Intel and on all versions of Leopard. But on Tiger PowerPC /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib is PowerPC only. freetype should be trying to link with /Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.4u.sdk/usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib which is always universal. This needs to be reported to the developers of freetype so they can fix it. I have tested this patch on OS X 10.5, running the current version of MacPorts. The patch simply removes some unnecessary CFLAGS from the Portfile build of srm. Since srm compiles and runs fine if you use the soruce tarball directly from srm's homepage (i.e., not through MacPorts) with no extra flags or configuration options, I'm not sure why these CFLAGS were added to the Portfile build in the first place. If they were added for compatibility purposes with an older OS X version (e.g., 10.3?), I would have no way of testing that. Based on the original ticket description, as well as my own experiences, srm-1.2.8 will not work properly on OS X 10.4 or 10.5 without a patch. As an aside: I read through the MacPorts documentation, and I couldn't tell whether I should open a new ticket to submit this patch, or just reply to this ticket. If anyone would be willing to let me know whether replying to this ticket was the proper course of action, I would greatly appreciate it. This means mirroring also uses the single directory level. I propose to use the primary category to layout mirrors and distfiles with an additional directory. The main reason for this is the layout on distfiles.macports.org. We need the 2 layers of directories to make browsing more managable. The change will be mostly invisible to users as far as their local installations are concerned. This will make distfiles match the layout of Portfiles in the svn and rsync repositories. The simplest fix, and the one I provide a patch for here, is to read the categories value and set distpath accordingly during fetch_init. This affects all fetching and mirroring. The only impact I see to end users is if they pre-fetch something, upgrade to the patched code, then try to install. The distfile would be in the wrong place and re-fetched.
