The cairo universal variant builds the quartz code. The cairo port does not have a quartz variant any longer. Please deactivate this port first, or use the -f flag to force the activation. also by forcing, the g_thread error persists. It bombs out on missing header files related to this missing functionality. The fix is appending the `--disable-xattr-support` and `--disable-acl-support` arguments to ''configure''.
