For example, the [http://db.macports.org/port/show/1604 MacPorts DB page for the q port] shows it has no maintainer, but I am its maintainer since r32081. The pages for [http://db.macports.org/port/show/1871 curl] and [http://db.macports.org/port/show/2120 wget] show they're maintained by yeled, but I took them over in r28530. The version information in the Port Packages section of those pages is being updated with new information. Python believes that the library directory is on the Framework directory. There is a discussion on the mailing list [http://lists.macosforge.org/pipermail/macports-dev/2008-July/005603.html on this problem]. We can put the effort into making ports work with the current python setup, but I humbly suggest that a better long term solution is to to modify the various ports to install into the Framework directory. Attached is a proposed change to the python25 Portfile as well as the python25 group. The advantages are: * The python program will not have the wrong library path. * It is much easier to avoid conflicts between the versions of python. The main disadvantage is that many ports will have to be modified (only minor changes, however, are often sufficient). So far I've tried gcj34 as well as gcc42, gcc43, gcc44-20080712, and gcc44-20080718. From checking the issues lists, it appears that GCC 4.2 should work for Intel; however I get {{{ internal compiler error: in uses_jv_markobj_p, at java/boehm.c:245 }}} trying to compile HelloWorld.java. I was able to Google one or two non- Mac occurrences of this but they didn't lead me to anything useful. The issues list seems to verify that I need to upgrade to 10.5 to run GCC4.3 with Java support so I didn't continue trying to get that version to work. The GCC4.4 port notes that some language front-ends are not yet supported but doesn't say which ones. Is Java supported yet? But if I have a Portfile elsewhere in the repository, such as under users/*/*, then the script emails me an error instead: {{{ Portfile: pure-devel Error: Unable to open port: Could not find Portfile in /tmp/mp_lint/36446/ryandesign/pure-devel }}} trunk/dports seems to be hardcoded into the script. But the script should support Portfiles, wherever in the repository they may be.
