It gave some wired Assembler error due to some i386 preprocessor flag which is set in config.h. libtool: compile: /usr/bin/gcc-4.0 -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I.. -I.. -DG_LOG_DOMAIN=\"GLib\" -DG_DISABLE_CAST_CHECKS -DG_DISABLE_DEPRECATED -DGLIB_COMPILATION -DPCRE_STATIC -I/opt/local/include -isysroot /Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.5.sdk -DG_DISABLE_SINGLE_INCLUDES -D_REENTRANT -O2 -funroll-loops -fstrict-aliasing -isysroot /Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.5.sdk -arch x86_64 -mmacosx-version-min=10.5 -Wall -c gatomic.c -fno-common -DPIC -o .libs/gatomic.o /var/tmp//ccJOoJtG.s:53:Incorrect register `%rdx' used with `l' suffix A workaround is to add configure.post_args \ --host=x86_64-apple-darwin9 --target=x86_64-apple-darwin9 --build=x86_64-apple-darwin9 to the portfile. Things still work (just very inefficiently) as long as the portfile hasn't been modified since the archive was created (as MacPorts will just unarchive and then notice that the port was already installed and continue), However, if there modification time for the Portfile is later than the archive, Macports will generate an error and stop the install or upgrade. I first noticed this with only upgrade and didn't find the problem in the upgrade code, but then noticed it also happens with install. Sometimes we need to make temporary directories. For example, in the code that handles the "`use_dmg yes`" portfile directive ([browser:trunk/base/src/port1.0/portextract.tcl portextract.tcl], added in r36708), I used "`exec mktemp -d`" because the tcl "`mktemp`" didn't do this.
