As macports is using those mirrors the package is missing for macports too. The problem is easily fixed by using version phonon-4.3.1, found in kde:stable/4.2.1/src/ I've only tested with kdelibs4 4.2.2 (as 4.2.0 is missing too). This is the error output: {{{Error: Port gail not found}}} The user needs a little indication about what the situation is about and how to get around this. In this case for example the user needs to run upgrade on the dependents of gail and the uninstall it. To test, build qt3 or fox with xorg dependencies installed using the system_x11 variant. Then run /opt/local/bin/assistant (part of qt3) or /opt/local/bin/adie (part of fox). I suspect this is do to conflict between the system Xft2 libraries and the macports freetype libraries. Attempting to force use of the system freetype libraries results in failed compiles.
