#15558: Provide quartz-only variant of cairo port -------------------------------+-------------------------------------------- Reporter: macports(a)flyn.org | Owner: macports-tickets(a)lists.macosforge.org Type: enhancement | Status: new Priority: Low | Milestone: Port Enhancements Component: ports | Version: 1.6.0 Keywords: | -------------------------------+-------------------------------------------- The cairo port currently provides three variants: universal, which builds all of cairo's backends (e.g., freetype and quartz on Mac OS X); glitz, which (in addition) enables glitz and no_x11, which disables X11 functionality. I would like to see a pure quartz variant. It is desirable to have only one font subsystem (quartz). This is not yet generally feasible because many applications do not support the quartz back-end. However, a pure quartz variant would allow developers to easily build an environment from which they could continue to port applications to support the quartz back- end. Broken, for lack of a better word, applications would immediately reveal themselves as they would not build and/or execute. If a user is only interested in a subset of applications that do support the quartz back-end, then he may install them without many unnecessary dependencies. Of course, the universal build should remain the default for quite some time (if not forever). This was discussed in ticket #15052. The explanation for this I found in the replies to a 2007 October thread on their mailing list, at http://lists.mplayerhq.hu/pipermail/mplayer- users/2007-October/069603.html The fix ''might be'' to apply [http://svn.mplayerhq.hu/mplayer/trunk/input/input.c?r1=24844&sortdir=down&p… this patch] to the source (is the current release really older than October 2007?? maybe it's already applied...) Alternatively, another simpler fix that just works is to do: {{{ touch ~/.mplayer/input.conf }}} (i.e., create the file if it doesn't exist). But since it's probably not a good idea to modify every user's homedirectories, another fix is to remove the comment after the "T vo_ontop" line in $PREFIX/etc/MPlayer/input.conf (or move the comment to another line). Note that "T vo_ontop" is not the only command affected by this; e.g. hitting "r" or "t" (which are for moving subtitles) also has the same bug (i.e. there is the message at the commandline, although it doesn't seem to matter), and probably so do whatever other commands in input.conf have a comment following them. -- Ticket URL: <http://trac.macports.org/ticket/17802> MacPorts <http://www.macports.org/> Ports system for Mac OS

This occurs when libvo is built. Included is a full debugging output from port during the failed build. I am running 10.5.4, with a 2 GHz Intel, and the latest version of Xcode.
