As macports user I would like to submit the following enhancement request. These days I have to deploy server MacOSX Servers Leopard and for this deployment I needed also the three small tools logrotate, webalizer, iftop. So it was obvious to build these three tools once as standalone binary packages on a dmg image on my administration system in order to avoid the installation of macports base and XCode on every single server. On the macports guide (3.4.2. Binary Packages[http://guide.macports.org/#using.binaries.binary-packages]) I found the appropriate commands. Unfortunately with these commands, needed libs for the mentioned ports are not included with the pkg, even not with the command option "port mdmg ...", a command option somebody of the "bug"-staff mentioned to use. So for webalizer and logrotate I had to copy over the appropriate libs manually and for iftop I had also to copy to the target systems "/opt/local/share/terminfo". May be I have missed some important information, in order all needed libs would be included in the build standalone packages - but I found nothing appropriate on the email lists etc. Short I think, that it would be very necessary for standalone packages that all required libs and other files are build and included with the packages. Only in this way a deployment with out an installed macports base or XCode is possible. This can be seen using eg: $> otool -L lib/libboost_python-mt.dylib lib/libboost_python-mt.dylib: /opt/local/lib/libboost_python-mt.dylib (compatibility version 0.0.0, current version 0.0.0) /System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.5/Python (compatibility version 2.5.0, current version 2.5.1) /usr/lib/libstdc++.6.dylib (compatibility version 7.0.0, current version 7.4.0) /usr/lib/libgcc_s.1.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 1.0.0) /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 111.0.0) The problem only really shows up when compiling a source to a .so module with boost-python: the macports python2.5 complains when importing the module: "Fatal Python error: Interpreter not initialized (version mismatch?)", while the system python does not show this error. (Note that printing sys.path in macports python2.5 does not show any standard system path, only the macports one, as it should.) The problem does not exist for the python 2.6 (probably since there are no system libraries for this version). Not that it is also broken in X11 on leopard anyway, but it was fixed in in XQuartz 2.3.1. So the state of affairs is that now three-button emulation works in X11 + Xquartz 2.3.1, but doesn't work in Native Pdigin 2.5.1 + quartz. Not sure if this is a Pidgin or native gtk bug, but it seems that a fix could be gleaned from the XQuartz sources. Repro: Launch Pidign 2.3.1, click over name in buddy list with modifier key, e.g. control key. Appropriate mouse button not emulated.
