Last PHP instructions to assist in enabling PHP on Apache were these: To enable PHP in Apache, run cd /opt/local/apache2/modules /opt/local/apache2/bin/apxs -a -e -n "php5" libphp5.so That worked correctly - and added the 'LoadModule' in the httpd.conf file. Tested PHP on a browser - it did not work. Apache documentation said FIlesMatch needed to be added to the httpd.conf file for PHP to work: # Then, configure the handler for all files that end with .php # A regexp such as \.(php|php4|php5)$ can also be used to support more extensions <FilesMatch \.php$>   SetHandler application/x-httpd-php </FilesMatch> That fixed the problem. I am able to get "Thread Safety" enabled by compiling php 5.4.12 from the php.net source, by appending configure arguments: * --enable-maintainer-zts * --with-tsrm-pthreads I have been unsuccessful in enabling "Thread Safety" by editing the php/Portfile. I have tried to add this: * configure.args-append --enable-maintainer-zts * configure.args-append --with-tsrm-pthreads .. and also tried to append this to the main "configure.args" declaration: * --enable-maintainer-zts \ * --with-tsrm-pthreads However, neither of those methods seemed to actually compile php54 with "Thread Safety" enabled. I got a new iMac so I started downloading things I need. I first installed xCode and then MacPorts, because I wanted to install Kile. I used the introduction on this page: http://www.tosnos.com/?p=28 The installation and everything went without any error messages, but if i try to load Kile from the launchpad, nothing is happening, the kile-icon just disappears after a second. I tried to run kile from the terminal by changing the directory to /Applications/KDE4/...... and in the last directory they were two files: Kile Kile.sh I tried to run the command "kile" but then I get the message: command not found. I have no idea how to fix it or what could went wrong in the installation.
