When values are discrete, both are required to be defined as globals in the errno module. The EOPNOTSUPP vs ENOTSUP distinction also breaks copystat routine in shutils module when run on Mac OS X. Shutils contains this code that makes all chflags operation errors to be ignored if underlying OS does not support them: if (not hasattr(errno, 'EOPNOTSUPP') or why.errno != errno.EOPNOTSUPP): raise In reality, when the file system (say, NFS) does not support file flags, it returns the value of 45 in errno, which corresponds to ENOTSUP. The code used to work when ENOTSUP and EOPNOTSUPP were mapped to the same value, but is ineffective now. It cannot be fixed trivially either because errno.ENOTSUP is not present in errno module, as per above. I suggest the patch be committed to python port to 1. make sure errno.ENOTSUP is always defined, and, 2. shutils are adjusted to use errno.ENOTSUPP in the above chflags workaround. I'll see about submitting the patch to upstream, if it is still needed, but would really like so see the workaround in the port meanwhile. I've tried install wine and install python27 many times, they haven't worked yet. I've also uninstalled macports and done uninstalls/cleans between attempts to install python27. I've tried sudo port install python27 +universal as well as -universal. To do that I have installed: MacPorts & Xcode_4.4.1_6938145 (from apple developer site). I am not a computer experts so I am using PortAuthority to do this. The process has been running fine until the installation of python27. I have read and tried all the suggested remedies in MacPort "Problem Hotlist" by applying the commands through my terminal. I compared the tarball I downloaded today with an older copy I happened to have on another machine, and it looks like the upstream author made a cosmetic change without bumping the version number -- the top-level directory within the tarball has been renamed from spaetz-offlineimap- c9e9690 to OfflineIMAP-offlineimap-c9e9690, but the contents of those directories have not otherwise changed. (Ryan Schmidt, ryandesign(a)macports.org, says on macports-users that this change happened in r103123.)
