For example, in emacs: 1) "C-x C-f" to find a file 2) Type "/user@remotemachine:somefile.txt" 3) Asks for password, (type the correct one in). 4) Results in this error: user@remotemachine's password: ControlPath too long Process *tramp/scpc remotemachine* exited abnormally with code 255 In the *Messages* buffer, it says the tramp is doing the command: Tramp: Sending command `exec ssh -o ControlPath=/var/folders/...a_really_long_dir_name.../-Tmp-/tramp.442LsW.%r@%h:%p -o ControlMaster=yes -e none remotemachine' So I think the ControlPath is just too long for ssh. Note: I don't think this is a problem with tramp itself, because I compared the tramp files in /Applications/MacPorts/Emacs.app/Contents/Resources/lisp/net/ with the ones on a linux machine where tramp works, and they're pretty much the same. It has been proposed in the macports-dev user list [https://lists.macosforge.org/pipermail/macports- dev/2013-October/024520.html here]. The source is maintained here [source:users/elelay/PortsAutoComplete]. The plugin depends upon a Postgresql database of current Portindex, see #40579. I think it works as expected and I've tested it locally. Current status quo is that the GPLv3 license is blocking any installation on trac.macports.org, which is hosted by Apple Inc. I'm willing to release it under another open source license since I've been developing it only for us. The additional change in patch-pack-CMakeLists.txt.diff fixes an error where the destroot fails because it tries to write a file directly into the applications directory, bypassing the destroot. I've reported this to the developers here: https://github.com/Gnurou/tagainijisho/issues/104 The new patch patch-i18n-CMakeLists.txt.diff fixes an error where the destroot fails when the path to the source code contains an underscore (which in MacPorts it always does) due to an overly greedy regular expression.
