I did try the recommended unloading of the kernel extension (though I don't know what that means or whether it is relevant), and it failed: {{{ ~$ sudo kextunload -b com.github.osxfuse.filesystems.osxfusefs (kernel) Kext com.github.osxfuse.filesystems.osxfusefs not found for unload request. Failed to unload com.github.osxfuse.filesystems.osxfusefs - (libkern/kext) not found. }}} I also do not know why it chose to replace libtool with libtool+universal (I have no other universal ports). (My processor is intel core 2 duo.) I am running Mavericks 10.9.1. Inspecting the log file says that the error is that it cannot find openmpi from hdf5: {{{ :info:build In file included from /opt/local/include/hdf5.h:24: :info:build /opt/local/include/H5public.h:61:13: fatal error: 'mpi.h' file not found :info:build # include <mpi.h> :info:build ^ }}} I have hdf5-18 installed with the +openmpi variant, which I would like to keep for other applications. I think the problem stems from the fact that openmpi include files are in the /opt/local/include/openmpi-mp/ subdirectory. An incarnation of that can be seen in #38744. A far as I can see, we have to options: ping upstream on this issue and hope for them to resolve the bug, or rewrite texi2dvi (and possibly other tools?!) to use "gsed" instead of just "sed".
