We treat this list as a notification system for our bug tracker (https://trac.macports.org) Many contributors—perhaps most of them—avoid subscribing to it because they don't want to be inundated with ticket notification messages. Thus, your email will likely go unread by most of us. Mailing the list does not automatically create a PR. Again, you should resend to macports-dev or macports-users if you wish to reach a larger audience. Search of ports shows 0 hits for g++

I'm a novice Macports user. A user claimed a program segfaulted when using Macport's version of g++, so I'm trying to investigate the issue. I attempted to install g++, but it resulted in an error: $ sudo port install g++ Password: Error: Port g++ not found I attempted to search for the package name, but its returning 0 results: https://www.macports.org/ports.php?by=name&substr=g%2B%2B. I know Macports has g++ somewhere, but I don't know where. ********** Perhaps it would be a good idea to alias g++ to the latest g++ package so things just worked. Advanced users who know the package name are still free to use their mastery of Macports to install different versions. Perhpas it would be a good idea if searching for g++ returned g++ packages.

This has already been fixed upstream in jemalloc trunk, cf. https://github.com/jemalloc/jemalloc/commit/f1f2b4542902c5bc14788f6c2d4190b…, but there is not a release with this patch available yet. This portfile update includes that patch, applied to version 3.6.0, in order to make dynamic linking against jemalloc usable. I changed it to link to python 2.7 and the upgrade succeeded. It seems that config might be a little smarter about finding a compatible version of python (or better yet, adapting itself to python 3.)
