I first met an error saying that I need to install cfitsio with gcc5. I did it by sudo port install cfitsio +gcc5. Then the error becomes: Error: org.macports.build for port gildas returned: command execution failed Please see the log file for port gildas for details: /opt/local/var/macports/logs/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_tarballs_ports_science_gildas/gildas/main.log I have attached the file main.log. In the logfile, I believe the relevant error messages are these: {{{ :info:build /opt/local/var/macports/build/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_tarballs_ports_cross_msp430-binutils/msp430-binutils/work/binutils-2.21.1/bfd/doc/msp430-bfd.texinfo:325: unknown command `colophon' :info:build /opt/local/var/macports/build/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_tarballs_ports_cross_msp430-binutils/msp430-binutils/work/binutils-2.21.1/bfd/doc/msp430-bfd.texinfo:336: unknown command `cygnus' }}} The problem looks due to a bug in binutils which was fixed in version 2.23, cf https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=15183 thus the issue should be quite straightforward to fix in macports, but I don't have the skill to do so. #49815: gdb: "rootless" El Capitan prevents required edit of /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.taskgated.plist -------------------------+-------------------------------- Reporter: s.j.clark@… | Owner: macports-tickets@… Type: defect | Status: new Priority: Normal | Milestone: Component: ports | Version: 2.3.4 Keywords: | Port: -------------------------+-------------------------------- After installing gdb (ggdb) you are required to edit the file /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.taskgated.plist and add the -p option to /usr/libexec/taskgated, i.e. edit the options line in that file to read <string>-sp</string>. That was easy enough until El Capitan introduced the "rootless" (System Integrity Protection) which means, even with sudo you can't edit files in /System. Any ideas out I can add the -p option where required to make ggdb work, or some other way to get ggdb to do it's thing?
