The aim is to allow users who don't like or cannot afford to waste disk space (on things they don't use) to reduce the number of translations installed by ports. A good example is port:VLC : this one consists for over 50% of translations, most of which will never be used by the (vast) majority of users. That may be "only" around 37Mb, which is why I've hesitated a bit to make this proposal. Still, leaving only the en_GB, fr and nl translations that overhead shrinks to about 1.2Mb . The principle of this PortGroup is simple: if adds a variant (tentatively called `langselect`) which adds a post-destroot block that prunes translations from ${destroot}${prefix}/share/locale, leaving only translations the user is interested in. This happens only when the variant is active, of course, but also requires the user to list the translation(s) s/he is interested in. Those desired translations are read from a list assignment to a variable called`keep_languages` in ${prefix}/etc/macports/locales.tcl. A locales.conf file would be nicer but I didn't want to spend too much time figuring out how to write a parser for that kind of file. This is not the behaviour I expected. It seems like this command should set the default version invoked with `g++`, but not "promote" GCC to be the default compiler. That is, it would create symlinks for `g++`, `gcc` etc, but not generic names like `c++`. This tool downloads the boot2docker ISO image, creates a VirtualBox virtual machine, sets up two networks for that virtual machine and then provides the user a simple way to login via SSH. This port works with the docker port in ticket #43260. Please keep the versions matched. Since the build process calls git through go -d, might as well fetch with git as well. I have since remembered that KDE PIM applications have a habit of causing `do you want application akonadi_foo_agent to accept incoming connections` unless they're signed even by a self-signed key. I've thus whipped up a very rudimentary PortGroup to provide a `codesign` procedure that is a priori to be called during the `post-activate`. The principle is simple: if `${prefix}/etc/macports/codesign-identify.tcl` exists, the procedure attempts to read a variable `identity` from it which must be a non-empty string . If that succeeds, all files passed in the argument(s) to `codesign` are signed, one by one. I don't really have any suggestions how to handle errors during this operation, so I'm just ignoring them. There is of course a rather evident source of error here: signing identities correspond to a certificate that must be stored in a keychain on the calling user's keychain list. It turns out that even with `macportsuser` set to myself (I know, bad) my regular signing identity isn't found, not even when I invoke the procedure from a Portfile "root" (to test with `port info foo`). I don't understand why that is (it is found when I `sudo codesign -s identity ...`) . It might thus be necessary to store the key in the/a system keychain and instruct `codesign` to use that chain?
