#22839: EiffelStudio, Mac OS X and characters with accent (UTF-8) -------------------------------------+-------------------------------------- Reporter: christophe.haro@… | Owner: macports-tickets@… Type: defect | Status: new Priority: Normal | Milestone: Component: ports | Version: 1.8.1 Keywords: | Port: -------------------------------------+-------------------------------------- Hi all, I'm French ! Apologize for my poor English. Until now, I have teached Software Engineering and Software Programming with Java, Php and SmartEiffel examples. I'm wondering to play Eiffel with many more library classes and a true IDE. I planned to use EiffelStudio under Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.8. But until now, I was never able to use it in French for comments and, of the first importance, for messages sent by the application. Hence I get, for instance, : print("Je suis Franais%N") when I want to write : print("Je suis Français%N") and so on with é, è, à, ... (all characters with accent). When I type accented characters in the editor, it never display it. For instance, if I'm preparing a source code with such a comment : -- Le réservoir est-il vide ? the editor stay blocked on the input of the accented character until I type 'reservoir'. I can never input such a character. My question is : "Can I configure EiffelStudio so that it accepts such characters ?". Mac OS X 10.5.8 Leopard configured for UTF-8 and environment variable LANG initialized to fr_FR.UTF-8. Can someone tell me how to configure EiffelStudio and all the tools so that I can teach programming in French ? Thanks in advance. -- Christophe HARO Christophe.HARO@free.fr ---------------------------- -- Ticket URL: <http://trac.macports.org/ticket/22839> MacPorts <http://www.macports.org/> Ports system for Mac OS
