universal i386 ppc must be the default. After cleaned out the work folder and pkgconfig I tried to reinstall: Mac88311ELYP4-2:~ kcrist$ sudo port install curl ---> Computing dependencies for curl ---> Dependencies to be installed: pkgconfig ---> Fetching pkgconfig ---> Verifying checksum(s) for pkgconfig ---> Extracting pkgconfig ---> Applying patches to pkgconfig ---> Configuring pkgconfig ---> Building pkgconfig ---> Staging pkgconfig into destroot ---> Installing pkgconfig @0.25_1+universal ---> Activating pkgconfig @0.25_1+universal ---> Cleaning pkgconfig ---> Fetching curl ---> Verifying checksum(s) for curl ---> Extracting curl ---> Configuring curl ---> Building curl ---> Staging curl into destroot Error: Target org.macports.destroot returned: /opt/local/bin/curl-config differs in /opt/local/var/macports/build/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_ports_net_curl/work /destroot-powerpc and /opt/local/var/macports/build/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_ports_net_curl/work /destroot-intel and cannot be merged Log for curl is at: /opt/local/var/macports/logs/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_ports_net_curl/main.log Error: Status 1 encountered during processing. Anyway all is good, I uninstalled the problem ports and rebuilt with -universal. htop installed without errors. Thank you for your help and instructions.
