#39790: Is it possible to have MacPorts install the xcode command line tools by itself during installation? --------------------------+-------------------------------- Reporter: c.herbig@… | Owner: macports-tickets@… Type: enhancement | Status: closed Priority: Normal | Milestone: Component: base | Version: 2.1.3 Resolution: wontfix | Keywords: Port: | --------------------------+-------------------------------- Changes (by larryv@…): * status: new => closed * resolution: => wontfix Comment: Replying to [ticket:39790 c.herbig@…]:
Is it possible to negotiate with Apple to have MacPorts be able to fetch and install the xcode command line tools by itself without a user having to either use the apple developers site or install the huge Xcode.app manually?
This simply will never happen. Apple provides us with no special treatment, other than hosting; they will not allow us to bypass the the Mac Dev Center. (Note that downloading the Command Line Tools //always// requires logging in, either through Xcode or on the website.) FYI, these sort of open-ended queries really should go to one of the [[MailingLists|mailing lists]], not Trac. You’d get more discussion there because more devs subscribe to the lists than monitor the bug tracker. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.macports.org/ticket/39790#comment:1> MacPorts <http://www.macports.org/> Ports system for OS X
