How is this even possible? You’re on x86_64 Mountain Lion. {{{ :debug:main OS darwin/12.2.0 (Mac OS X 10.8) arch i386 }}} I’m pretty sure `tar` is part of the core OS, so this doesn’t make me feel too good about the state of the rest of your system. I recommend just straight-up reinstalling the OS. This shouldn’t touch anything other than system files, so you don’t have to worry about your personal stuff getting lost.
