This is very useful in many cases. Assume a long-running process started remotely over ssh. But you have to leave now and want the process to keep running until complete? Solution: start a screen session, use 'reptyr' to attach the long-running process into screen, close ssh and go home. Caveats: the author of 'reptyr' states that porting it to BSD may be feasible, but is difficult.
