#50512: perl5: obsolete subports perl5.16 perl5.18 perl5.20 --------------------------+--------------------- Reporter: devans@… | Owner: mojca@… Type: enhancement | Status: new Priority: Normal | Milestone: Component: ports | Version: Resolution: | Keywords: Port: perl5 | --------------------------+--------------------- Comment (by devans@…): Replying to [comment:8 mojca@…]:
There were only three answers on the [https://lists.macosforge.org/pipermail/macports- dev/2016-February/032406.html mailing list]. I gladly do whatever consensus we happen to reach, but it would be nice to have somewhat consistent rules also for other ports. The number of answers was way smaller than expected though.
(I just installed the long forgotten `python33` and then even `python32` for the sake of debugging why one of my ports didn't run properly with `python34` after I added a huge patch to introduce compatibility with Python 3. And then uninstalled them again.)
And no, I don't need Perl 5.16 at all, I'm just not sure if we want to prevent all users from using it. Or would at least like to see some more feedback and more consensum from the community.
I don't think there's much more to say about this other than to make a decision one way or the other and close the ticket. Since these are all now contained as subports in perl5 and you're the maintainer, I'm happy to go with whatever decision you think is right. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.macports.org/ticket/50512#comment:10> MacPorts <https://www.macports.org/> Ports system for OS X
