torsocks may claim to be a replacement for tsocks, but it is not. torsocks is a socks proxy over tor. For use over a normal SOCKS proxy, torsocks appears not to work. [also see http://trac.macports.org/ticket/36808] Is there some reason we can't keep both tsocks and torsocks in macports?

[also see #36808] Is there some reason we can't keep both tsocks and torsocks in macports? -- Comment: At the time that I marked tsocks replaced_by torsocks I thought they were equivalent software. Since it has now turned out that they are not, we should revert that. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.macports.org/ticket/37666#comment:1> MacPorts <http://www.macports.org/> Ports system for Mac OS
