#15876: Figlet 2.2.2 checksum error ---------------------------------------+------------------------------------ Reporter: jazzyguy@tampabay.rr.com | Owner: macports-tickets@lists.macosforge.org Type: defect | Status: closed Priority: Normal | Milestone: Port Bugs Component: ports | Version: 1.6.0 Resolution: fixed | Keywords: ---------------------------------------+------------------------------------ Changes (by ryandesign@macports.org): * status: new => closed * summary: Figlet won't fetch and gives a new error message Apparently the mirror is wrong => Figlet 2.2.2 checksum error * resolution: => fixed * milestone: => Port Bugs Comment: This is a follow-up to #15794, in which I added more mirrors to the port because the official site did not contain the distfile. I can confirm the new issue. It looks like ftp.figlet.org now does contain the file figlet222.tar.gz, but it's a different figlet222.tar.gz than the mirrors have. Comparing the contents of these differing files, the file posted to ftp.figlet.org contains FIGlet FAQ v0.91 (which claims to be from July 2005 but whose modification date is 10 April 2008) while the file on the mirrors has the more recent FIGlet FAQ v0.92 (which claims to be from and was last modified on 05 July 2005). Also, the file on ftp.figlet.org has a figlet.6 manpage which claims to be from 13 July 2002 (but with a modification date of 10 April 2008) while the file on the mirrors has a manpage that claims to be from (and was last modified on) 05 July 2005 and has other improvements like including information about the mailing lists and including email addresses next to persons' names. Given this, the distfile on the official site seems to be bogus so I removed the official site from the download locations in r38074. If you experience a checksum error when installing figlet, please "`sudo port clean --all figlet`" to clear out the incorrect distfile and try installing again. I will write to info@figlet.org and inform them of this problem. P.S: Please remember WikiFormatting when pasting terminal output into tickets.
