#44319: mutt-devel failed to build while patching pager.c -------------------------+-------------------------------- Reporter: jchauvel@… | Owner: macports-tickets@… Type: defect | Status: new Priority: Normal | Milestone: Component: ports | Version: Resolution: | Keywords: Port: mutt-devel | -------------------------+-------------------------------- Comment (by ryandesign@…): jchauvel, your issue stems from the patch-1.5.21-6.2.debian.sidebar.diff patch used in the +sidebar variant. tristan, your issue stems from the patch-1.5.21.rr.compressed.gz patch which is used in the +compressed variant. Unfortunately the mutt-devel port has very many variants, many of which patch the software, and these patches need to updated every time the software is updated. Sometimes new patches for each feature are not available at the time that the port is updated, so the variants will fail until such a time as new patches are released by their developers and we update the port again. Or it could be that we just forgot to check if new patches for each variant were available when we updated mutt-devel to 1.5.23 in r121993. mutt-devel takes way too long for one of us to update to newer versions, for the aforementioned reasons. I've started and then given up on mutt- devel updates before, because it was too frustrating. It would be better if all features were in the mutt source code and could be enabled and disabled with configure arguments, like other software packages use. Or a plugin architecture could be developed. It would help us greatly if someone would open a dialog with the developers of mutt and see what can be done about this situation. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.macports.org/ticket/44319#comment:4> MacPorts <http://www.macports.org/> Ports system for OS X
