#23632: kde4-ANY Crippled sound without QuickTime addons ----------------------------------+----------------------------------------- Reporter: dtsimon@… | Owner: macports-tickets@… Type: defect | Status: new Priority: Normal | Milestone: Component: ports | Version: 1.8.2 Keywords: kde4, qt-mac, phonon | Port: ----------------------------------+----------------------------------------- The KDE4 ports depend on Qt's phonon sound system, which in turn depends on the native QuickTime system. As it states at http://mac.kde.org/?id=download , if QuickTime can't play it, phonon can't play it. The solution is to install the Xiph (ogg) QuickTime component (http://www.xiph.org/quicktime/) to allow QuickTime to play ogg files. Installing Perian (http://perian.org/) wouldn't hurt, either. There should be a note during the port install process saying that this step is necessary since much of KDE's audio is in ogg format. Would it be possible to force or automate installation of these QuickTime addons through the port install process? -- Ticket URL: <http://trac.macports.org/ticket/23632> MacPorts <http://www.macports.org/> Ports system for Mac OS
