#30079: 4Story port request ------------------------------------+--------------------------------------- Reporter: xingmaster90@… | Owner: macports-tickets@… Type: request | Status: new Priority: Normal | Milestone: Component: ports | Version: Keywords: | Port: 4Story ------------------------------------+--------------------------------------- Changes (by ryandesign@…): * port: => 4Story Comment: I assume you are talking about http://global.4story.com/ We at MacPorts don't really "port" software (meaning: take software designed for one platform and rewrite it so it works on another platform). Rather, we take software that can already be built and installed on a Mac, and make it easy to install and update. If this is a Windows-only game, then there isn't really anything we can do. Ask the developers to make a Mac version. After they have done so, we can investigate whether making a port in MacPorts would help anything. If it is a Windows-only game, it is possible you could run it under Mac OS X using Wine (either the wine port, or the wine-devel port, or the wine- crossover-games port). No guarantee this will work though. Other alternatives include running the game in Windows in a virtual machine under Mac OS X, using a program such as VMware Fusion or Parallels Desktop. These cost money of course and you'll also need a Windows license, and performance usually suffers somewhat, in comparison to running Windows directly on the hardware using Boot Camp. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.macports.org/ticket/30079#comment:2> MacPorts <http://www.macports.org/> Ports system for Mac OS
