#50857: Warning if launched as non root -------------------------+-------------------------------- Reporter: fabrizio@… | Owner: macports-tickets@… Type: enhancement | Status: new Priority: Normal | Milestone: Component: ports | Version: 2.3.4 Keywords: | Port: -------------------------+-------------------------------- I think it would be great to add a warning message if port is launched as a non root user. I use a lot the root user without sudo (even though the practice is questionable). If I forget to go root or add sudo port selfupdate will fail with macports::selfupdate [array get global_options] base_updated. Adding a warning such as "Cannot run port as a normal user! please use sudo or login as the root user!" would be helpful as I have already seen people posting this issue on stackoverflow. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.macports.org/ticket/50857> MacPorts <https://www.macports.org/> Ports system for OS X
