You don’t have to concern yourself with that, but [http://guide.macports.org/chunked/reference.portgroup.html you can read about portgroups in the Guide] if you want. Whether a particular port uses any is at the discretion of that port’s maintainer. Thank you for telling about portgroup. I'll post patches if I found some port to update.
