 Hi

 After many hours of searching for a solution did a simply try to run:

 {{{
 cd [work directory]
 sudo ./configure --prefix=/opt/birdfont
 sudo make
 sudo make install
 sudo port -f activate libgcrypt
 }}}

 That was the trick to get it running on 10.6.3. I am surprised that it
 works and I still don't have any idea on how to fix the package.
