#36342: Description for arping is incorrect --------------------+-------------------------------- Reporter: tim@… | Owner: macports-tickets@… Type: defect | Status: new Priority: Normal | Milestone: Component: ports | Version: 2.1.2 Keywords: | Port: --------------------+-------------------------------- At this URL: https://trac.macports.org/browser/trunk/dports/net/arping/Portfile the description reads: "utility to find out if a MAC address is already taken on a LAN" The long description reads: "Arping is a util to find out if a specific IP address on the LAN is 'taken' and what MAC address owns it." The long description is correct. The description is incorrect because you're not looking to see if a MAC address is taken just the IP address. Aside from soft-setting the MAC address you shouldn't run into duplicate MAC addresses on an Ethernet network. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.macports.org/ticket/36342> MacPorts <http://www.macports.org/> Ports system for Mac OS
