[MacPorts] #51484: Please deactivate my account
#51484: Please deactivate my account ----------------------+-------------------------------- Reporter: sfiera@… | Owner: macports-tickets@… Type: defect | Status: new Priority: Normal | Milestone: Component: ports | Version: 2.3.4 Keywords: | Port: ----------------------+-------------------------------- I haven't been an active committer in the better part of a decade, nor do I use MacPorts at all any more. Yet, I get a lot of spam through the email address, or worse, emails and bugs from people thinking that sending their issue to me will get a response. It would be best, I think, to deactivate the account sfiera@macports.org, and have future emails to it bounce. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.macports.org/ticket/51484> MacPorts <https://www.macports.org/> Ports system for OS X

I don't see any ports maintained by you anymore, no open tickets assigned to you or Cc'd to you, and no occurrences of your email address in `$Id$` lines. So I wouldn't expect you to be contacted deliberately by users, except perhaps to respond to some old ticket or mailing list thread. But I do see your email address in the copyright lines in the source code in the [browser:trunk/base/src/cregistry cregistry] and [browser:trunk/base/src/registry2.0 registry2.0] directories in base. Maybe that's where the spam is coming from. In any case, I'll get your address removed from the forwarding file. Best wishes to you and thanks again for your prior support. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.macports.org/ticket/51484#comment:2> MacPorts <https://www.macports.org/> Ports system for OS X

Maybe issue trackers are good sources of emails for spambots and they crawl the whole thing. The last (non-spam) email to me appears to have been https://trac.macports.org/ticket/15950#comment:5, which I guess was just bookkeeping, rather than a request. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.macports.org/ticket/51484#comment:3> MacPorts <https://www.macports.org/> Ports system for OS X

Trac doesn't display full email addresses unless you're logged in, so spambots should not see full email addresses, except of course if they appear in full in source code files, as is the case for your address in some of the copyright lines.

Right, I was cleaning up some formatting errors in old tickets. ----- I'm deleting your @macports.org address from the server after this comment, so you should not receive any further mail. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.macports.org/ticket/51484#comment:4> MacPorts <https://www.macports.org/> Ports system for OS X
