emacs 24.3 (9.0), OS X 10.9.3. Executing "M-x gnus" emacs hangs indefinitely, and I need to execute "Force quit". Selecting menu "Tools -> Read net news (gnus)" emacs hangs in the same way.

Is somebody willing to help? I have the last gnus stable version; the last emacs version has been released in 2013 and has worked correctly with gnus until the recent macports upgrade for emacs. So, the fault must be related to macports in some way.
