I am not sure it is a Glib related error, but I have installed Glom in a new fresh installation and when I Stat it I get this error when i want to create a new brand new database file:

It creates the database folder, but won't create the ~.glom file describing the database and it won't initialize the database and won't create the database configuration. I can create a database from the included examples and I can use already existing databases.

I didn't have it with previous versions.

I have a back-up of December and it does work well, while dbus, glib and glibmm libraries have the same versions… And the Glom binary is the same version as well. I made a packaged version of it (December) that works well too.

I think it's related to GKT3 as well, because I get the same translation problem with Gnumeric for example with the parts belonging to the software in English and no support for locale numbers, but some parts strangely appearing in French. These won't happen with GTK2 apps and Gnumeric used to work well under GTK2. Hopping it'll be fixed someday cos' Glom is a very good piece of software and is not shown off as it should be. I have added GTKmm for GTK2 and the error message is not happening anymore. GTK2 is an _optional_ dependency of Avahi. And I doubt that the part of Avahi used by Glom uses GTK2. So you don't have to build the GTK2 part of Avahi, and I don't think it should affect Glom if you do. Yes it is completely useless, but it corrected my bug by applying this procedure. I did it twice on 2 different builds.

Your problems with using Glom's "Shared on Network" feature might be completely unrelated. Does that work for you on Linux? Glom should work just fine in French in a normal Linux distro. Please file a bug if it doesn't. Reported on Bugzilla.
