#49146: gnome-keyring @3.18.0 requires clang-3.4 which is not functional for PPC -------------------------+---------------------- Reporter: braumann@… | Owner: devans@… Type: defect | Status: new Priority: Normal | Milestone: Component: ports | Version: 2.3.4 Resolution: | Keywords: powerpc Port: clang34 | -------------------------+---------------------- Changes (by devans@…): * keywords: => powerpc * cc: jeremyhu@…, ryandesign@… (added) * port: gnome-keyring => clang34 Comment: Again, I would prefer to resolve the issues with building and using clang 3.4 on ppc. See jeremyhu's comments on #49764. At any rate, I don't see this as a port specific problem but a more general one. I think we should establish a ticket specifically for the issue of identifying a more modern tool chain that can be used consistently on powerpc platforms with modern C, C++ and objective C standards and modify ports base to use it as the fall back rather than mixing and matching on a port by port basis. I have real sympathy for the powerpc plight but, unfortunately, this is an issue that is only likely to become more difficult as new standards evolve over time. Folks like yourself that have the appropriate hardware and interest need to take the lead in this quest if it is to be successful. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.macports.org/ticket/49146#comment:3> MacPorts <https://www.macports.org/> Ports system for OS X

It might just be time for you to get new hardware =/. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.macports.org/ticket/49146#comment:4> MacPorts <https://www.macports.org/> Ports system for OS X
