Is it really necessary to do this copy by hand? Can't the Portfile do this?

I've uploaded yet another version of this thing: Portfile.3 After doing a complete tests of this port file--I deleted everything and re-installed from scratch--I found that LaTeX wasn't finding the files that were installed in the local texmf tree. The final post-activate step fixed this. Then I deleted everything and again re-installed from scratch. Now it works as expected.
