The issue is very clearly stated: The file `/Applications/MacPorts/Python 2.7/IDLE.app/Contents/Info.plist` is present but unaccounted for. Did you have MacPorts installed on this machine previously? Did you remove it without uninstalling all ports first? -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.macports.org/ticket/42206#comment:3> MacPorts <http://www.macports.org/> Ports system for OS X

Again just now I did a fresh install of MacPorts from scratch
That wasn’t what I asked. I asked (a) whether you had ever had MacPorts previously installed on that machine and, if so, (b) whether you’d uninstalled all ports before removing it. I ask because this is the only reasonable way this situation could have come about: 1. You install MacPorts. 2. You install the `python27` port, which installs `/Applications/MacPorts/Python 2.7/IDLE.app/Contents/Info.plist`, among other things. 3. You delete `/opt/local` (or whatever) //without// uninstalling `python27` first. Uninstalling `python27` would have removed `/Applications/MacPorts/Python 2.7/IDLE.app/Contents/Info.plist`. 4. You reinstall MacPorts. 5. You try to reinstall `python27`, but activation fails because of the orphaned `Info.plist`. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.macports.org/ticket/42206#comment:5> MacPorts <http://www.macports.org/> Ports system for OS X
