Where did the bad file come from -- what mirror server? Or, what does the file say (can you attach it)? There are dozen of possible servers from which the expat port might download.

Unfortunately I don't have the files anymore, but I believe it was http ://superb-west.dl.sourceforge.net/expat. It appears the incorrect response from that site has been fixed, as now it comes up with a different error message and port properly moves on to the next site until the expat source is correctly downloaded.
