I use both applications daily ffmbc for broadcast formats and ffmpeg for all other using it's new features (mainly filter graph). To achieve this on linux machines I have compiled ffmbc manually and disabled ffmbc's "ffprobe" and on Mac OS X I have installed it via homebrew, which works, but I do not like having two package managers...
