After many tries (with also other gtk based programs) i still had that error. I reinstalled everything: XQuartz (last version 2.7.5) and macports (2.2.1) from scratch (i also deleted prefs, various LaunchDaemons and LaunchAgents as suggested in documentation). Actually i'm on a MacBook Pro with Mavericks and last version of XCode + cli tools, some days ago everything worked and i'm still trying to figure out what does not work. I also tried to run programs using a new user on the system but again i got segmentation fault.
