Outbound 873 is blocked on my network, and there's nothing I can do about it. So I tried to use the tarball:

You can use "`sudo port sync`" to sync the ports tree (via https, now that you've changed your sources.conf), and manually update MacPorts base when a new version is released, e.g. by downloading and installing the package from our web site.
