That version contains undefined _omp_* symbols, which render it difficult to use. 3.10.1_3 fixes the _omp_* symbols. From the log, the x86_64 version built (not without errors, but they were ignored); the i386 version is where the critical errors occur. After looking back through older altas issues, it's almost as if atlas is not recognizing the computer's CPU when in 32-bit mode -- not quite, but similar. I'm not sure this is a MacPorts' issue, but the Portfile is complex enough that I'm not sure. The vector unit flag used (6) was set to SSE3, but somehow the build process considers that SSE3 does not imply neither SSE2 nor SSE1, causing some snippets not to be included during the selection process, which in turns leads to the inconsistency aforementioned and the assert trap. So I changed the flag to 448 = SSE3 + SSE2 + SSE1. Seems to work (though my build has not currently completed). It might be caused by the new Portfile enabling SSE3 instead of SSE2 for i386 (32 build).
